Hi guys! Today I will be reviewing the book, Harry Potter and the Sorcerer’s Stone. So, let’s get started!
Today, I’ll be starting with a small synopsis of the book, followed by parts of the book I liked/didn’t like, and finally the conclusion. So pretty short, yeah! Now let’s really get started!
Harry Potter has spent his entire life growing up in the house of his disparaging aunt and uncle, along with his spoiled cousin, Dudley. The three of them have done nothing but make Harry’s life miserable, from the moment he was placed on their doorstep. Going through all this, Harry didn’t expect his eleventh birthday to be any fun-and he certainly didn’t expect for a large hairy man to come barging right through the door, telling Harry he belongs with a group of wizards at a school called Hogwarts.
Well, that’s it for the synopsis! Now, like I said above, I will be sharing with you things I liked/didn’t like about the book.
It was surrounded by a lot of mystery/suspense, and there were many tense scenes. What I liked more about the suspense is it “keeps you guessing”, which really draws you into the book and keeps you reading. Some of the tense scenes were so great, I actually felt like I was there, with the Golden Trio on their adventures around Hogwarts. Another thing that was great is that the genre of the book was fantasy fiction, which is one of my favorite genres because it is very thrilling/it is not very normal and you can kind of play with it.
Now to some of the parts I disliked. I didn’t dislike much from the book, actually, just some minor parts I thought could be repaired, such as Rowling giving some insights on what happened to Harry at school/could have shown parts when he was little, to make us understand more of his personality.
The chapters could have focused on not only Harry’s point of view on what was going on, but others (ex. Ron, Hermione, Malfoy, Neville, Dumbledore, Snape, etc.) points’ of view. We could have seen some small chapters in their judgement-such as chapters like chapter nine (the midnight duel), from Ron’s point of view, and chapter ten (from Hermione’s point of view), and even minor pages from Malfoy’s point of view.
So that’s it for this review! For those who have actually read the book, I hope you liked my points, and for those who didn’t, I hoped it helped! See you soon, have a nice day!
